Marriott’s Custom House
July 24th, 2007
In 1915 a 496-foot tower was added to the old Custom House making it the tallest building in Boston for 49 years. When custom officials moved to the Tip O'Neill building in 1986, the Custom House was declared surplus property; it remained unoccupied for 14 years before Marriott converted it into an 84 room hotel.

The second floor of the lobby features a rotating selection of exhibits from the Peabody Essex Museum and the 26th floor of the hotel features an observation deck. A one bedroom, one bath "villa" here costs about $500 per night.
Below: The Oakwood Corporate Apartments at One India Street, across the street from the Custom House, offers temporary furnished apartments (standard starting at $130 per night and "signature" for quite a bit more).
